Gary Haviland

Antigo native Gary D. Haviland of Hastings, Minn. died Saturday, October 31, 2009.  He was 76 years old.

Born Jan. 27, 1933 in Antigo, Mr. Haviland attended Antigo High School and was a member of Co. C 426th Infantry National Guard in Antigo.

Mr. Haviland was a union boilermaker and plumber.  He returned to the northwoods in 1976, residing in Pickerel, where he owned and operated Haviland Septic Installations.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and humorist.

Survivors include his wife, Toni, of Hastings; two sons, Jeffrey (Becki), Bayport, Minn. and Matthew (Lisa), Hastings; two daughters, Julie (Steve) Malm, and Molly (Jim) Hoffman, all of Hastings; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by three brothers Dick (Ruth), Duane (Janet) and Colin; and a sister, Diane (Del).

His parents, George and Ruby, a brother, David, and a sister, Moonyeen Glasheen, preceded him in death.

A memorial service and visitation were held today at the Wise Funeral Home in Hastings.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar in the spring of 2010.
