Charles “Chuck” Reimer, age 64 years, of Clintonville passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2010 at Appleton Medical Center after a short illness.

Charles Anton Reimer was born in Hailey, Idaho on December 12, 1945 to Charles and Chris (Bommersbach) Reimer and grew up a Hodag in Rhinelander, WI. Chuck attended Rhinelander High School where he earned nine varsity letters playing football, basketball and tennis. After graduating high school in 1964 he attended UW Oshkosh where he received a BBA. He was married on August 17, 1968 to his high school sweetheart, Joanne M. McRae, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rhinelander. Chuck was married for over 40 years to the love of his life. He was a salesman in the lighting industry, a career that he loved and carried on from his father. A born salesman for over 40 years, he wishes to thank all of his loyal customers.

Master of the Texas Wedge, Chuck lived for the warm weather in which he was an avid golfer and would often travel around Wisconsin with his friends and family hunting for “eggs” at different courses. When not on the golf course, he could be found working in his yard, following the many local sports teams, or spending time with his family. Devoted father and grandfather, Chuck was always there for his children and grandchildren supporting them in whatever they pursued and they loved him with all of their hearts. He is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Clintonville Riverside Golf Club. Chuck enjoyed playing cards, was an avid reader, played in the Clintonville basketball league, tennis league, and Thursday night golf league. He was a volunteer coach for the CHS freshman and JV basketball teams for 12 years. Chuck will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of life, sense of humor, big heart, and his infectious personality. Often the life of the party, he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Our lives will never be the same without him.

He is the beloved husband of Joanne and dear father of two children; Renee (Chad) Ulman of Appleton and Jon Reimer of Green Bay. There are two grandchildren, Sophie and Georgia Ulman; two brothers, Theodore Reimer of St. Louis, MO, and Tom (Patty) Reimer of Greenville, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents.

A special thank you is extended to family and friends for all of the cards and acts of kindness over the past three months. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Kevin Mortara and all of the nurses on the oncology wing at AMC for the excellent care he received.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. Charles Hoffman will officiate and inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville (715)823-4565, is assisting the family.
