Dennis Noller

Dennis C. Noller, 55, of Minneapolis and a former Antigo, WI resident, died, Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Minneapolis after a battle with lung cancer.

He was born March 8, 1954 in Marshfield.

He was a 1972 graduate of Antigo High School.

Mr. Noller is survived by his mother, Rose Noller of North Fond du Lac; three sisters, Diane (Bob) Ford, North Fond du Lac, Anita (Randy) Weckwerth, Princeton, and Anne (Ken) Bracke, Mayville; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alve Noller; a brother, Wayne Noller, and grandparents.

Following creamation, a private family memorial service will be held.

Gary Haviland

Antigo native Gary D. Haviland of Hastings, Minn. died Saturday, October 31, 2009.  He was 76 years old.

Born Jan. 27, 1933 in Antigo, Mr. Haviland attended Antigo High School and was a member of Co. C 426th Infantry National Guard in Antigo.

Mr. Haviland was a union boilermaker and plumber.  He returned to the northwoods in 1976, residing in Pickerel, where he owned and operated Haviland Septic Installations.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and humorist.

Survivors include his wife, Toni, of Hastings; two sons, Jeffrey (Becki), Bayport, Minn. and Matthew (Lisa), Hastings; two daughters, Julie (Steve) Malm, and Molly (Jim) Hoffman, all of Hastings; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by three brothers Dick (Ruth), Duane (Janet) and Colin; and a sister, Diane (Del).

His parents, George and Ruby, a brother, David, and a sister, Moonyeen Glasheen, preceded him in death.

A memorial service and visitation were held today at the Wise Funeral Home in Hastings.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar in the spring of 2010.

Robert Kuhls

Robert D. Kuhls, of Platteville died on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Southwest Health Center Hospital in Platteville.  He was 83 years old.

He was born on May 12, 1926 in Platteville, a son of the late Harry D. and Nora (Kamps) Kuhls.  He was united in marriage to Lois Driscoll on June 12, 1948 at the Benton Primitive Methodist Church in Benton.  She preceded him in death on July 1, 1997.

Mr. Kuhls was a member of the U.S. Army Air Force where he served as an airplane mechanic.

He farmed for nine years near Benton before moving to the family farm south of Platteville in Smelser Township in 1959.  He milked Holstein cows and raised beef cattle and hybrid hogs for himself and for other farmers.  In 1992 he received the Century Farm award.  He also sold Kidmans Feed.

Mr. Kuhls was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace and an honorary FFA member at Platteville High School.  He liked cars, especially General Motors.

Mr. Kuhls is survived by three children, Linda (Walker) Calvert of Livingston, Cindy (Tony Koss) Kuhls of Antigo, and Eric (Lisa) Kuhls of Platteville; two grandsons, Cory Calvert of Waterloo, and Benjamin Kuhls of Platteville; three brothers, Donald Kuhls of Platteville, Richard (Geraldine) Kuhls of Platteville, and Francis (Donna) Kuhls of Stevens Point; a sister, Marion (Delbert) Dailey of Cuba City; two sisters-in-law, June Kuhls of Platteville, and Nancy (Pat) Murray of Cuba City; special cousins, Roger and Sally Gorges of Calamine; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold James Kuhls, and a sister-in-law, Betty Kuhls.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with Rev. Jeff Pedersen officiating.  Chapel military rites were conducted by American Legion Post #42 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5274.  Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Platteville.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of Peace or to the American Heart Association.

The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family.

Sheila Babcock

Sheila M. Babcock, 36, of Schofield, WI, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Saint Clare Hospital, Weston.

She was born on August 26, 1973 in Appleton, a daughter of Nancy (Koentopp) Lane, Appleton, and the late Raymond Lane.

Ms. Babcock was a 1992 Bowler High School graduate and worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Homme Home of Wittenberg for many years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three step-children, Cody Richter and Steven Richter, both of Wittenberg and Vicky Richter, Schofield; two sisters, Karen (Roy) Diedrick, Wittenberg and Linda (Sid) Seehawer, Menasha; nieces and nephews, three stepbrothers; a stepsister; her godson; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a niece and her grandparents.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Schmidt Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Hutchins, Shawano County.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services, all at the funeral home.

Anna Kielman

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Anna M. Kielman, age 86, Birnamwood, WI died Sunday, October 11, 2009 under the care of LeRoyer Hospice at Langlade Hospital, Antigo.

She was born July 4, 1923 in Polar, the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude (Riley) Kirsch.

On August 4, 1967 Anna was united in marriage to Orval Kielman in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2009.

Anna and Orval lived in Milwaukee until moving to Birnamwood in 1971. She worked as a machinist for Controls Corp in Milwaukee for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, playing cards and canning.


Survivors include two sons, Wayne (Jeanne) Kielman, Mesa, AZ and Dennis (Catherine) Kielman, Milwaukee; three grandchildren, John (Nichole) Kielman, Becky Kielman and Brian Kielman; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Kielman, Angie Kielman and Viktoria Bruski.

In addition to her husband and parents, Anna was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

The funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Todd Jerabek will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, township of Almon. Friends may call from 9AM until the time of services at the church. Ronald Simon

Ronald Carl Simon, 67, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Avon Park, Fla.

Mr. Simon was born in Antigo on March 5, 1942, a son of Carl Simon and the late Nan Simon.  He graduated from Antigo High School in 1960 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving from 1961 to 1965.  He then worked in civil service as a vehicle maintenance manager with the U.S. Air Force retiring in 2004.  He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church.

On April 11, 1964, he married Barbara Hamilton in California. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad and he enjoyed golfing at the many courses in the country.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Donna (Bill) Schlanker, Oakland, Calif., and Cindy (Wayne) Ferguson, Hurst, Texas, a son, Jeffrey (Cici), Abilene, Texas, and two grandchildren.

He is further survived by his father, Carl Simon, Antigo, three brothers, Donald (Rita), Antigo, Jerome, Merton, and Kenneth (Karen), Kellnersville, and two sisters, Carnan Simon, Antigo, and Alice (Joe) Zuelsdorff, Merrill.  Also surviving him are two sisters-in-law, Kay Simon, Avon Park, and Bev (Ray) Bostwick, Bryant, and a brother-in-law, Denny (Linda) Hackett of California.

He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, Roger and Conrad Simon, a sister-in-law, Audrey Simon, a brother-in-law, Lawrence Nelson, and his mother and father-in-law.

A memorial service was held Thursday in Avon Park, Fla.

George Anderson

George H. Anderson, 63, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 surrounded by family members at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Minn.

Mr. Anderson was born July 7, 1946, in Antigo, a son of Morris and Marie Anderson.

In between his college education and his work career, he served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-70.  Mr. Anderson began his work career as a business education teacher at Kimberly High School then taught at Pittsville High School before completing his master’s in school business management.

He held his first school administrative position as the assistant school business manager for the Beloit School District.  He and his family then moved to Fond du Lac where he was the director of business services for the Fond du Lac School District from 1985 until he retired in January, 2003.  He was a member of the Fond du Lac Music Association.

He met his future wife, Connie at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, they married in 1974.  In addition to family trips and gatherings, the couple also enjoyed going on Elderhostel trips, fishing, golfing, attending concerts, and spending some winter months at The Villages, in Florida.

He was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Fond du Lac and Noon Kiwanis.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, a daughter, Sarah (John) Meyer, a son, Paul (special friend Rochelle), a sister, Mary (Ralph/Jerry) Anderson Hilger, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at Pilgrim United Church of Christ at 10:30 a.m. followed by a lunch at the Whispering Springs Golf Course banquet room.

Memorials may be sent to the George Anderson Scholarship Fund or Mayo Clinic.

The Anderson family would like to thank the staff at the I.C.U. at St. Agnes Hospital and Rochester Methodist Hospital (Mayo Clinic).  Their care and compassion will always be remembered.

Steven Casarez Jr.

Steven R. Casarez, Jr., 19, of Adell died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 as a result of a pick-up truck accident in Ozaukee County.

He was born on May 31, 1990 in Plymouth, a son of Steven D. Casarez Sr. and Annette Lenzner Casarez of Adell.  Mr. Casarez attended Batavia Grade School and graduated from Random Lake High School in 2008.

He was employed at Strack Farms in Random Lake and then worked at Manny Made in Cedar Grove and at Matt Thompson in Random Lake.

He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and working on any mechanics such as trucks, snowmobiles and cars.  He was known as a friend to many and was there to lend a hand in need.

In addition to his parents, survivors include four sisters, Eliza Lenzner, Lorna and Deanna Casarez, all of Adell, and Angela Casarez of Sheboygan; his paternal grandmother, Lorna Casarez of Antigo; maternal grandparents, Robert and Louella Lenzner of Elcho; uncles and aunts, Manuel (Judy) Casarez of Cedar Grove, Terry (Larry) Wadel of Plymouth, Lori (John) Agacki of Wausau, and Roseann (Scott) Hoffman, Gloria (Duane) Pagel, Brian (Diane) Lenzner, and Jeff (Lisa) Lenzner, all of Antigo.

He is further survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Manuel Casarez, and an aunt Lilly Casarez.

Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth.  Rev. Wayne Bittner will officiate.  Cremation will follow the services.

Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Steven’s name.

Doris Peasley

Doris J. Peasley, age 94, formerly of Birnamwood, WI died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.


She was born on March 31, 1915 in Newald, WI, the daughter of the late Martin and Nellie (Amerson) Bossell.

On September 12, 1933 she was united in marriage to William “Bunny” Peasley in Merrill. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Beverly (Don) Kreger and Bonnie “B.J.” (Larry) Kainz, both of Wausau and Betty (Ed) Ellefsen, Carthage, MO; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarendon and Laurence Bossell and three sisters, Phyllis Uttecht, Fern Ziegelbauer and Vivian Knowles.

Joseph Sontag

Joseph N. Sontag, 50, of Hayward, WI died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at his home.

Born July 2, 1959 in Milwaukee, he was a son of Norman and Edith (Schmidt) Sontag, who now reside in Lily.  He was raised in Brookfield, where he graduated from Brookfield East High School.

After high school Mr. Sontag started an electrician apprenticeship in the Milwaukee area.  He was later employed by Rockwell Electric Company in Chicago, and traveled the United States repairing printing presses.

Mr. Sontag moved to Hayward and worked for a short time with Louisiana Pacific as an electrician.

He enjoyed deer hunting and in his younger years, playing racket ball.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sontag is survived by his six children, Jessica (Andy) Glab of Cedarburg, Joseph Sontag of West Allis, Caitlin (Ramiro) Perez of Houston, Texas, Jamie Sontag of Sussex and Noah Sontag of Menomonee Falls.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Hastings of Brookfield and a niece and a nephew.

A service will be held at a later date.

The Anderson-Nathan Koerpel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
